A quick search turned up BBC's 1975 production of Anne of Avonlea, starring Kim Braden as Anne and Christopher Blake as Gilbert. There was also a production of Anne of Green Gables with the same cast that has been lost. However, this mini-series did not disappoint. Anne of Avonlea combines Anne of Avonlea and Anne of the Island.

Rebroadcast on BBC between 5 August and 2 September 1973, it was followed by a sequel, Anne of Avonlea. Barbara Hamilton had also played Marilla in Anne of Green Gables: The Musical between 1965 and 1968 and then had the recurring role of Eulalie Bugle in Sullivan Entertainment's Road to Avonlea (1990-1996).
